Activity 1: Off the Menu [4 points]
On your blog, tell us what you think about this rule and why you think it!.
I think that this rule is fair, The rule of people getting a fine for over fishing is fair enough and why I say that is because In the sea there are small fish that are not supposed to be taken but people still take the small fish. I also think that the rule is fair because taking if you try to take all the fish you have to remember that there are other people that really need it not just for themselves but also for there family.
Activity 2: The Black Drain [4 points]
On your blog, tell us:
1) The names of the rivers.
2) The location of the rivers.
3) What is being done to clean up the rivers (if anything).
Omaru Creek is a polluted river.
No one is doing anything to help Omaru creek.
Activity 3: Faded Glory
On your blog, list three different ideas or strategies for raising funds to preserve the Great Barrier Reef. What could you do to fundraise here in New Zealand?
I could sell all my things that my family and I don't need to get the money and send it down to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
I could send more sea food to help out with the sea creatures at the Great Barrier Reef.
I could save all my money and send it to Australia for the Great Barrier Reef.

ReplyDeleteTena Koe Lili,
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with you that having the law in place is reasonable enough because we need to sustain the ecosystem in certain areas of the land. What do you think about the price for the fine being $100,000? I personally think that this is way too much money to ask for an illegal action such as fishing. It definitely does send a strong message out there but even reducing it half price and setting $50,000 as a fine would stop most people from attempting. What do you think?
For activity 2, you will have to choose another lake to compare and contrast. This means, you can leave Omaru Creek as one of your options but you would have to do more research to find another lake! Maybe this time try to find a lake that people in NZ are trying hard to sustain (keep clean).
It was nice to see how considerate you are of raising funds here in NZ. A garage sale would be a perfect way to raise lots of money in a short period of time! Your whanau can get together to set this up which would be super helpful.
I hope to hear back from you sometime soon Lili :) Remember this is your personal blog so you are more than welcome to continue blogging for the next two weeks! You can blog about your day and tell us different stories.
Take care,
Susie
